Shamrock Wreath for St. Patty's Day (Tutorial)

The real iconic symbol of St. Patrick's Day, for me, is the shamrock. I like the rainbows, pots-of-gold, leprechauns and such, but the shamrock immediately takes me to this Irish holiday, and, as I've mentioned before, I have a thing about wreaths. Occasions, holidays, and whims require the construction of a new wreath and, since St. Pat's is a holiday, I made a wreath! A ribbon wreath featuring the Shamrock, to be precise. Last year's wreath had shamrocks as well, but this year I went for a single shamrock design to mark the occasion.

St. Patty's Day Wired-Ribbon Shamrock Wreath

Materials Used:
wreath form
wired ribbon
thin wire (optional- needle & thread)
straight pins
hot glue
Dollar Tree foam shamrocks

The main components of the wreath...the form and the ribbon.

wrapping the wreath form in wired ribbon
I pinned the ribbon to the wreath form and starting wrapping
 the form.

zig zag folding of the wired ribbon...5 or 6 folds
Once the wreath form was covered,  I started making the ribbon folds (5 or 6 zig-zag folds) that would adorn the wreath, making it pretty to look at! They're not really ribbon flowers, just puffy folds.

running thin wire through the ribbon folds to secure them
I ran a thin wire through the ribbon folds to hold them together. You could use a needle and thread to accomplish the same thing. Notice the cut ends of the ribbon are on the side that gets wired and glued to the wreath form.

twisting the wire to close the ribbon folds
Securing the wire so the ribbon folds stay intact.

applying hot glue to the wreath form to secure the ribbon folds
I attached the puffy ribbon sections to the wreath form using
 hot glue.

opening the ribbon folds and puffing, scrunching them up
This is the folded ribbon once I puffed and scrunched it to make it look pretty on the wreath (just prior to gluing to the form).

covering the wreath form with the folded ribbons sections
This is what it looks like after I've added several sections of the wire-ribbon...only a few more to go!
